I have a few cars to insure etc but I’ve noticed my automatic renewal notices have been coming back cheaper than the previous years.

Same here, my renewal is not only 17% cheaper than last year but none of the quotes generated from Comparethemarket can get close.

Mine have been similar, but I haven't been inclined to look a gift horse in the mouth or worry about it. I don't know how old you are but I definitely remember a time when you expected your insurance to get cheaper every year as you got older and your no claims went up.

My renewal was aso cheaper.

Maybe Insuracne Companies have finally realised that often the 'cheapest' customers are the ones you already have: No need to advertise, no 'negotiations', incentives or freebees, just continue providing the services/goods at the acceptable cost that attracted them to you in the first place.

I hope so.

40. For a while in the past 5 or so years they have always been more but all my life since my first car they were always getting cheaper.

Oh no perhaps that’s it. I’m now over the hill and they will now get cheaper as I’m middle aged. frown

My renewal came in cheaper this year - after an 80% increase over the previous 2 years from £260 to £465 - BUT the terms had changed so that the excess doubled and they'd removed the business use.

Not sure how they can legally do this, as it's not a like-for-like renewal quote...as a lot of people would assume it would be.

Although once I'd changed these two items back to the previous terms, the price was still about £65 less than the previous year (although £50 more than the 'fake' renewal quote).

320D (the 335xD is c.£40 more)

Insurance is getting cheaper is all.It had been going up for a while off the back of some really bad years claim wise for the insurers, but now it’s swinging the other way.

I let mine auto renew mine this week. It's gone down a reasonable amount and I've been too busy to do the usual ring round for my broker to then try and beat.

Nope, not for me. I've just recently renewed the cover on my Vantage. The auto renewal was almost double the amount asked for by the Confused Comparing Meerkats etc.

It's about time!

My last renewal was only £1 more than last year, but I saved over £70 by going to the meerkats - and I never accept auto-renewal.

Sheila’s house/buildings insurance 24 went up by 30%, renewal 25 up by 40% no claims in the nearly 20 years I’ve been with them so the algorithm for retaining loyal and valued customers clearly hasn’t reached them!

They’re not doing this voluntarily - they cannot offer cheaper deals to new customers than to existing customers by law. It’s relatively recent.

Also, postcode-based pricing is now more visible in the actuarial calculations that it was previously so your area may have become safer. My premiums are increasing as every other neighbour seems to have a Range Rover of some description and they’re still a popular target for the scumbags, even if security is allegedly better. Oh, and judging by our street’s WhatsApp group, more that half of the RR owners never seem to have heard of Faraday bags.

One last thing……TURN OFF AUTOMATIC RENEWALS…..by all means renew and I know you lot are probably on top of it but don’t let them do it without you saying so. I used to do work with many insurers and their ethics are non-existent.

Be careful, the renewal price on my wife's car was cheaper than last year.
However, when I checked confused the best price was £100 cheaper than the renewal!

The insurance is a lot softer this year compared to last year when we all saw huge increases. Also i am led to believe that there are fewer accidents (30% less) so fewer claims means smaller payouts means cheaper premiums all round

Also with the increase in interest rates alot of people were stuch with vehicles that they could not afford so there a few suspicious claims!!!

Not mine. Swiftcover came back with an auto renewal £120 more than last year. So just over £1200 for my M4

It’s due to auto renew at midnight and I’ve just used our friendly Meerkat to shop around. Aviva got my business at £775 including some RAC cover. I get “free” roadside assistance with my bank but it’s been useless the few times I needed help.

Sometimes companies drop prices to keep customers locked in, but other times there might be hidden fees or changes in coverage. Definitely double-check the details before letting it renew automatically.

I never let my insurance auto renew, so did the compare the market stuff on 3 comparison sites, then when my renewal quote came through it was 30% cheaper than last year and 10% cheaper than the cheapest comparison quote. Never had this happen before.

Now next week it's home insurance lets see if that's the same, I doubt it smile
