The inside of my top box is rusty as hell. What is the best way to clean it?

The massive downside is the top box can't not come off as the lock is broken...

I've only ever seen plastic, alloy or stainless boxes yours is just plain steel ?

If you want to do it properly use either a grinder or a Dremel with a wire wheel

If you want to do it less well, use one of the rust converters and then paint it

If you just want the quick and easy option Hammerite - I prefer the smooth version

Turns out it isn't the actual top box that is rusty, but a tool I left in there.

Got most of it out. Ive now added a bit of carpet to stop whatever i put in there getting dirty with the bits I cant get out.

Give the stained bits a scrub with some vinegar and soap, preferably with a green scouring pad but a stiff brush will do.
