Ultima GTR Chassis question

Sorry if this has been asked before, could you build the tube chassis out of chromoly steel, i was readin up on it and it seems to be stronger than hi tensile steel. Think it would mean you could use thinner tubes for lighter weight or same size tubes for stronger chassis. I do remember a guy building a porsche 962 chassis out of chromoly steel as he was building a tubular space frame version of the car rather than the normal monocoque version.

Also i think chromoly steel is the same to weld as hi tensile steel. rather than using titanium which is very tricky to weld :).

Would the factory custom make such a thing ?

I doubt there are very many people that would be willing to pay the extra cost to have the factor build a custom frame out of chromoly...as I'm sure it would take some cash to change things up from their normal production process. You might save a few pounds (lbs) or kilograms, but strength shouldn't be an issue if the current chassis is built to handle over 1000 hp anyway.

More money than it's worth IMHO, but if the money is buring in your pocket, let us know how it goes!
