Hammerite or…?

I’ve got a little project car to keep me busy over the summer.

There’s a bit of flaking paint/rust on the lip (in side the wheel arch) on each corner.

This is a cheap project, so professional respray not an option!

I’m going to sand back the flakey bits, treat with rust converter but I can’t decide what to finish with. The car is silver, so I’m thinking either silver hammerite (the area is tucked under the lip so won’t be visible) or car touch up paint in the correct colour.

Any pros/cons to either choice?

Hammerite is the devil's brew.
Use anything but.If you use hammerite you won't be able to recoat it with any other paint as it will react

A more durable paint would help here but do not use hammerite, get a small tin of rustoleum combicolour.
Make sure you get most of the loose rust off, I am not a huge fan of converters but use something from the likes of jenolite if you do go down that route.
