Hi,

Looking at buying an A3 Sline 35 1.5 TFSi automatic (2023), car has done approx 28k miles.

During the test drive there was a slight 'judder' when pulling away from a junction at low speed.

Does anyone have any experience of this? is this normal? should I buy or walk away?

Dealer (Audi) have looked at the car and said it's a 'characteristic' of that model / engine / gearbox, I have my doubts.

Have owned Audi's in the past, but they have been diesel's.

Any advice or experience, would be greatly appreciated.

The 7 speed dry clutch DSG found in lower powered VAG cars can be quite grabby from a standstill

I have a 2018/67 Golf 1.5T (although a manual) and I get the well-documented juddering on start-up. It's usually gone and forgotten about within a couple of minutes.

I have that gearbox with the 1.4TSi (150) engine. Initially I thought the same but found that switching off Autohold & using the Electronic Handbrake gave a much smoother pull away. Rear brakes only holding instead of rear & front?

Had this dry clutch transmission several times over, including in our current 2023 1.5 TSI 150 Golf. It’s normal behaviour for the DQ200 gearbox.

I prefer the wet clutch DSG models fitted to the 150hp diesels and higher power petrols, but haven’t had any issues with the petrol & dry clutch models.
