I have a MK1 with the Ford 1.6 diesel engine. It will pretty much go anywhere and is especially good on soft boggy ground. I modified mine with a hydraulic tipping load bed and a five ton winch.

Yes , they were made for military use but they over engineered everything and made them too heavy for what the military had in mind . Some were used by the forestry

The Mk3 with the larger three seater cab is a better design than the MK1. I think the drive system is the same with the diesel engine driving the twin hydraulic pumps that then powers the triplex chain drive with tank style steering levers. Not an ideal system to maintain on the battlefield.

Mine will do about 25mph on the flat but the steering makes it difficult to keep straight but works well for doing donuts smile

Yes had one. Its downfall was lack of ground clearance, which made it a bit helpless really. It was also fitted with a set of tracks over the wheels.
It was bought cheap and sent for scrap.
The Japanese tracked dumpers that replaced it were far far ahead of them.
