Strangely cathartic.
Discussion
I have a bad habit of buying cars. Always something that catches my eye or satisfies an itch I need to scratch.
I usually sell again at some point, usually a few years down the line but recently I seemed to end up with more in than out. Add this to the fact that I/we rarely go anywhere except town for shopping, one/two holidays a year and maybe a car show and a couple of trips to the FiL.
Result was 6 cars between 3 of us, one car, the family car doing about 8k miles a year and the other 5 about 500 miles a year at most.
The three "collectors" cars in my collection were ending up SORNed over the winter and then each taxed a month at a time. Taxed for a year they'd be £430/£360/£360. All needed insuring and MoTing too. Simply not sensible.
Anyway this weekend two have been sold. Sad to see both go, loved them both for different reasons. We've still got "family" car, son's car, wife's car and one "toy" but despite the loss of toys it feels strangely cathartic, relief that I can concentrate on one, afford to tax it, get to it in the garage where previously I had to climb over one to get to the other two, one of which was up on the 4 post lift with the other underneath.
However I'm now looking at car ads as it's raining outside. Must find a new hobby.
