It's 2025 and yet Bentley can't manage to give you wireless CarPlay. I can plug my phone in via USB and it works fantastically but I don't want to have to take it out of my pocket or bag every single time.

There's hundreds of these things all over the internet and Amazon claiming to plug into the USB and give you truly wireless CarPlay ranging from a few £ to hundreds.

All I want is a plug and forget way of making it wireless in a reliable way.

Any recommendations?

Thanks.

My Porsche PCCM+ is the same. I use an Ottocast U2-X device that works well; I notice they now also offer a compact version https://www.ottocast.com/collections/hot-sale/prod...

Thank you. Otto cast has been mentioned a few times to me so I’ll go with that.

Cheers

Wanted to come back and finish the thread for anyone in the same boat. I went for this;

https://www.amazon.co.uk/OTTOCAST-Wireless-CarPlay...

Next day delivery from Amazon so didn't shop around, maybe could have procured cheaper.

Works like a treat. Plug it into the USB port in the arm rest, car picked it up as CarPlay straight away, connected my phone to the dongle via Bluetooth, confirmed I wanted to run CarPlay and it popped up on the screen. Subsequent times getting into the car and it's loads up as soon as I turned the ignition on.

First one I tried, total success as it would be as standard.

Thanks for the help.

Good to hear. I decided to update to the same Ottocase dongle to cut down on clutter, it arrived from China in a week and shows up as £50.71 on my credit card. In my Porsche, my phone is only around 6 inches from where the Ottocast Mini dongle plugs into the PCCM+ head unit, and it’s working very well

Do any of these dongles work for a car that doesn't have android auto built in ? My wife's 2020 Cooper S has Apple car play, but not AA. Neither of us has an apple phone.

To convert android into carplay, you'd need one of the so-called AI boxes. Basically a headless phone.

They're pricey - something like this (Carlinkit is a good brand, at least): https://www.amazon.co.uk/CarlinKit-New-Android-AIB...

If the car doesn’t have wireless charging, I don’t really see the point.

Not sure I agree, who needs to charge their phone on a 30 minute journey to work and back? My wireless charging is in the armrest next to the USB port so may as well plug it in as put it on the wireless charger but quite often my phone will stay in my pocket/bag so it's an extra thing to do when getting in and out of the car.

Wireless carplay is quite juicy especially if you are using spotify/maps etc.

My iX3 is wireless carplay only so keep it on the wireless charger unless I am literally going 5 minutes down the road (and therefor not need maps etc).

I would much prefer if it had a wired option - its no hardship to take your phone out of your pocket as you walk up to your car.
