Something interesting came out of my day at the Autocar Young Driver competition. Steve Fowler (editor of Autocar) and Colin Goodwin were telling a few of us about the press cars they get.
Apparently, the Ford Focus RS Turbo they got for the handling day track test was set up much stiffer, and with higher turbo boost than their others. 'What car's test car was very different apparently. Overall they've had 3 very different versions.
They also said that BMW have a special dedicated assembly line for building the press cars - no wonder they review so well but I find the real ones so disappointing!
My mum has an ex-press Audi A6 2.5 TDi with 235,000 miles, and it feels like not a yard over 100,000. Definitely feels different to other Audis.
So, the car companies are cheating!
