Yep, doing the sprint in my F2 Escort... which is a rally car....!

But a good shakedown I figured, and close to home,

I keep meaning to try this event, I know one of the people who helps organise it sounds like a good fun event.

How did it go? Hope it went well. Would love to see an F2 car used in anger.

I did the Abingdon rally a couple of years ago in my “dinosaur spec” Mk2 Escort but was very disappointed by the layout - squirt, brake hard, 90 left, squirt, brake hard, 90 right etc etc.
Maybe my disappointment results from the fact that the my brakes caught fire and then cracked a brake disc!
Last year I did Ralli Menai at Anglesey circuit instead, which was awesome, and well worth the trip.

Its an airfield a lot of them are like this sadly. and to get miles in you are using double width which means hairpins and 90's

Yes, understand that.

And in a few years time we will be wishing we still had the opportunity to use it.

I did ask a chap in a white F2 escort if he was on pistonheads but got a negative response.

Did you see the outcome of the Yaris incident?

Went well thanks, dry morning so we got our first timed run in the dry which was good. I had decided to run some old inters all day, and to be fair with a short 2 mile 'stage', they were ideal, warmed up nice and quickly.

Then it rained all afternoon so last two runs in the wet, essentially scores on the doors from run 1. Car was great, its so much fun to drive and i was trying to look after it as its not a new car by any means!! Got a class win and no issues so although there was more time in me and the car, i wasnt too unhappy with it.

I'll go again next year for sure, maybe in something else...!

Apologies if it was me you spoke to, I don't remember hearing a Pistonheads comment but could have just missed it!

Either way, yes I saw the Yaris come back on a flat bed. I didn't even know the wall he hit was there.... hope he was uninjured as it was a decent hit

Don’t worry, I must’ve looked like a right loony in high viz laugh

Yes, he was ok - that obviously can’t be said for the car. We were close to the start and heard the impact.
