It takes a lot of training (and the right breeds) to actually find truffles, and a whole lot more for the dog not to just gobble them up.
Your dog might have some pretty rare skills, perhaps worth doing some formal training?

This is what is left of the most recent one. It was round when I took it off the dog and lobbed it into the undergrowth only for her to run off and return with it. The half is what I rescued as I wanted to look at what she's been able to find in the shrubbery in an instant. The wife then mentioned that he dog had found a couple of the same things earlier in the week and eaten them.
We're north Cotswolds and I didn't think we had summer truffles here but it certainly smells extremely truffley.
As for a special breed, she's a parsons russell/working cocker mutt in training as a gun dog, although I suspect I'm going to have to start shooting quail or teach her to race F1 as she's not very big.

our parsons jack would retrieve duck,
as long as the water wasnt above the top of his legs
he decided one day he was better employed as a pointer,
Sounds sensible. Promoted himself to management. Who wouldn't favour pointing at things and letting someone else stick their tackle into a freezing lake. as long as the water wasnt above the top of his legs

Dog has started bringing truffles into the house. It's either robbing the shop down the road in town or has found them in the garden. Either way, it's not talking.

He s taken a photo of a truffle with a potato.
Camera simply wouldn't focus and there is a point where one recognises the picture being taken isn't worth an enormous amount of effort.

There's no money in hunting for truffles but there is money in selling to people who don't realise there's no money in random truffle hunting. https://www.akc.org/expert-advice/training/truffle...
