I want to fit reversing beepers to our Chimaera but with all the curves it is not obvious where to place the sensors.

I think the best place is just below the mock bumper bulge, but before I start drilling I thought I would ask if anyone has any experience of where to put them, or where to avoid.

(I would add a picture but I can't see how to do that).

Thanks.

You might need to start with what the sensor requires.
In my mind's eye, they tend to be a bit more vertical, so they're looking behind you, and that area of the car might be looking down too much for it to be effective. It might also be too low to pick up the presence of something like an SUV.
Your best method might be to find a crude way to fit them (I'm thinking a bundle of masking tape and some bits of cardboard) to see what they want.

I wouldn't be surprised if you need to modify something to hold them in a useful way, or create a moulded form to bond to the car down there.

Have you considered a digital rear view mirror and reversing camera.

I have the camera hidden behind the reg plate with a small hole drilled in it

Mirror is just a normal mirror until I pop it in reverse and then it puts a set of parking lines and a really good view of the back of the car. The mirror also has a front facing camera and records both of them

Check out Wolfbox for more details.

I hadn't seen those Bowks - they look good. Did you make a clear circle in your number plate or drill a hole?

That's a far simpler idea - especially for those of us with the back illuminated numberplate - you could possibly hide it behind a letter/number even?
And probably quite easy to fit a grommet for a seal into the boot.

I have it in one of the letters. I'll take a photo when I'm next out.
