Recommend me an ebike please - full suspension mountainbike
Discussion
Hi all
I enjoy riding the local trails. I currently have an analogue hard back GT. Been a great bike..
Wanting to travel further I have a cycle2work voucher for £2700 to purchase a new ebike.
Appreciate it's not a lot of money when buying an ebike but it's a lot to me.
Can anyone suggest a decent full suspension mountain bike with preferably a bosch motor please.. Medium size bike. I'll need to use the voucher..
Thanks

You won't find many at up to £2700 (you won't be able to add anything for Cycle2Work) but this is a good price. https://www.paulscycles.co.uk/bikes/electric-bikes...

The voucher can be used at lots of places.. evans, halfords, plus loads of others.
That's great. When I got my cycle2work voucher I spoke to a few local bike shops and they said they could take them but they add 10-15% onto the price because they don't make enough once Halfords have taken their cut. Made it pointless looking anywhere else. Crazy isn't it.. could buy a decent car for the cost of some of these bikes.
I can actually get a voucher for £6k but have limited myself... amd can't see the value of 6k in a bike!
Hard tail it is.
Looking at the Whyte 504 compact. Is this a good bike for the money please? Or any other recommendations welcome please.

Can you use them online? Places like Pauls Cycles have ebikes cheap(er). Like you say though, even £2700 doesn't go far when looking at a full sus ebike. Depends on what you're using it for too - would a hardtail actually be ok for the types of stuff you're riding?
Yes, online to. I think you are right, a hard tale is suitable. Just worried I'll always wish I went full suspension. 1175Mk1 said:
Thank you.
Maybe hard tail is better based on budget amd seems spec isn't great for full suspension at this price point.

What are you planning to use it for? Mountain rides / single tracks? Commuting? Gravel / Fire roads / tow paths?

Would agree with the above... huge variety of bikes out there, though granted yes an upper limit of £2700 will limit the options a bit more (which seems insane!) but what you'll be using it for / your riding style will be a big factor. I have a FS eBike, all 27kgs of it and whilst it'll cope with a lot of varied riding... tight / twisty XC based stuff isn't really it's comfort zone and so it can be too much at times, to big and heavy however seems much happier on "big stuff" and copes well with more aggressive terrain or big climbs out in the hills. Churning along a canal path or similar at 15mph with 2.6" tyres is quite tedious too. There are plenty times where I wish I had a light, more nimble HT bike with less power...
I'm thinking something like a Ribble e-gravel bike would be a nice contrast to a hardtail pedal bike.
Cheap heavy FS eMTB may be a disappointment unless you've got a few rides it's a good match for.
Depends whether you want a comfortable cruise on a bumpy path, or fast serious stuff.
Unfortunately 'nice' FS bikes are a lot of money new.
