Mrs and I are off to N France for a few days in July, taking car on the ferry. We'd like to tack on a day/night in Paris to see the Hockney.

Looking for a low/medium budget hotel on the northern outskirts with parking that is handy for public transport to and from the centre. Less than an hour's journey each way ideally. Any suggestions?

I’ve used the Novotel at Rueil Malmaison for this in the past. It’s a couple of minutes walk from the RER line into Paris and seemed a tidy quiet suburb when we were there. The hotel also has its own secure car park.

Alternatively, on the Eastern side, just outside the périphérique and a couple of minutes from the A4 motorway, you could consider the Novotel in Charenton-le-Pont which has parking and is next to Liberté metro station. I had an apartment in the same block, and found it very convenient for heading up to the A1 to Calais

How about an Ibis right in the Centre about 1km away from the Eiffel tower with loads of good restaurants near by and parking under the hotel.
I know because I stayed there twice whilst holidaying in Paris.
Theres a metro line outside the hotel too.
