Excellent news. Can I suggest they start by ignoring hurty words on the internet. Maybe the six cops who arrested a guy for a tweet about anti - semitism could deal with higher priority crime instead.

England has one of the lowest police to population ratios in Europe. I'm not sure that being reduced further is a good thing.

Although prisons are nearly always full, and that starts with the police. So hardly like they're unable to stretch the rest of the criminal justice system to breaking point.

The Met arrest around 120k people a year alone, so perhaps not a surprise.

I'm sure there will be some cuts in that area, just not funding cuts.

By coincidence (or at least, the algorithm) I've just watched a TED talk about people who hacked a dark web site offering (fake) assassinations for cash, where the Met apparently decided not to pursue it.
