Belvédère Hotel, Furka Pass
Discussion
It's a public road, we have been twice in two different cars, it's a great drive but 2nd time was no where near as exciting as the first, don't think we'll got back again for a long while. The glacier is 100% worth visiting, but it's disappearing at an alarming rate, some 10% has gone just in the last 2 years, doubt it'll be there the next time we drive the pass

^100% worth visiting the glacier before it goes completely. You can walk in it, but I don t think you can trek on it anymore via either helicopter or climbing?
As with everything in life though the 2nd you go its not as exciting, the irony of mass tourism to see a melting glacier probably sums up our collective intelligence as a species

If you need a place to eat on the Furka, we really enjoyed the Hotel Tiefenbach for lunch. Massive serves of delicious alpine food and a friendly welcome.

The Furka itself wasn't my favourite driving road though, super bumpy!

Its a bucket list item! Have to get it done. Is there a best time of year to go?
Basically a compromise of too busy, too wet, too expensive?
Getting to Switzerland really is very easy, even with a soon to be 8 years old electric car carrying 6 people with a 70 yearw age gap, it essentially is just one day of driving from France into Switzerland, and next day you can in the mountains. Switzerland isn't cheap, but if you take your own car you have plenty of choices for where to stay, you can easily drive into Italy as well via the pass (which is what we did a couple of summers ago).
Anyone on this forum really should do the drive.
It is easy!
I used to drive a fast Audi from West Yorkshire to Interlaken non stop.
Won’t do that now though!
Now it’s down to Dover, 270 miles.
Early ferry and across to Luxembourg 300 miles.
Then 300 miles to Interlaken.
That’s towing an 8 metre caravan.
No toll roads till you get to Switzerland, then it’s buy a pass at the border 40 Swiss francs.
If you are camping, stock up with food and booze in Luxembourg.
Passes usually open June to October.
