Porsche Extended Warranty
Discussion
Does anybody know if interior parts - specifically seats are covered under the extended warranty?
Looking through the T&C, they aren’t listed under the vehicle systems/covered however they also aren’t listed under the list of excluded parts.
I appear to have something broken internally on LWBS, I think it’s something to do with the airbag system. Occasionally you can feel something moving when cornering and pressing on this area you can hear that something is moving (passenger side is ok).
Thanks!

I've just had the chrono clock replaced under warranty, so yes, some interior parts are covered.Porsche should be able to tell you if your issue is covered, but they'll charge you at least £300 to diagnose the problem (refunded if it is covered).

I think it would depend on the problem with the seat.Porsche should be able to tell you if your issue is covered, but they'll charge you at least £300 to diagnose the problem (refunded if it is covered).
Airbag, mechanical or electrical issue, I would think would be covered, but stitching, bolster wear, sagging or colour transfer, probably not.
Thanks guys. I don’t think that creaks are covered (and I’ve read elsewhere of somebody who had that issue that wasn’t) but my issue is something loose within the seat which I assume is to do with the airbag. You occasionally feel it moving whilst cornering and can replicate the clicking whilst pressing on the seat (passenger side is completely fine).
It might just be a bracket or something but it is annoying as it feels like the seat has some movement in it if that makes sense?

To be honest, with that description, i sorry to say I think the OPC warranty won’t cover it.
It sounds (for lack of a better word) a cosmetic issue, as opposed to a “mechanical” failure. (Don’t shoot the messenger!)
I think you are (rightly or wrongly) going to get fobbed off at the OPC
It would almost be worthwhile going to a proper automotive upholsterer to have it stripped back and investigated and fixed if it really bugged you - probably cheaper and a greater likelihood of getting sorted.
Good Luck in any event

Numbered paragraph 1, "wear and tear" isn't covered.
Unless the seat suffers a serious structural failure I doubt there's a prayer of a warranty claim, and even then it wouldn't be a slam-dunk.
True however a broken component within the seat causing the airbag (or related component) to move around surely can’t be considered wear and tear at under 17k miles - or am I expecting too much?Unless the seat suffers a serious structural failure I doubt there's a prayer of a warranty claim, and even then it wouldn't be a slam-dunk.

Oddly enough i noticed the passenger seat on my 981 ( under warranty) has an annoying creak.
Not thinking they'd cover that ?
Many years ago I had this on the drivers seat on my wife’s 996, I mentioned it when I dropped it off for a service and they replaced both sets of runners on the front seats; not sure about the difference on warranty wording now though in comparison. Not thinking they'd cover that ?
^ notwithstanding the warranty wording between then and now, I think the workshop charging model from years ago vs now means that things which would previously got a quick goodwill look see previously have been tightened up on and everything is charged by the task units no, so the workshops are under greater scrutiny / pressure to account for all my time spent on a car when it is in the workshop
