The two Valkyries which are racing in the World Endurance Championship, like their rivals are subject to an equaliser system called Balance of Performance. This has been used for many years and has resulted in some very close and exciting races.

As a result of this, the production Valkyrie is much more powerful than the racing cars.

This new Valkyrie LM version probably has the lower powered race specification engine.

BUSINESS HAT ON.

Why are Aston Martin obsessed with limited production numbers?

Before the launch announcement, the Valkyrie LM had production limited to 10 cars.
Surely prospective buyers for this type of car, are not going to be influenced by whether there is a limit of 10, 20 or 25.
Of course by selecting 10, the revenue from customer 11, 12, 13 etc. will now have to be turned away.

If profit will be made by selling 10, then why does AML not keep an option open to sell more, if there is demand?
Profitability should increase on any cars beyond the break even point.

Not sure if they will actually sell all 10. Its does not help it cost 2M$ more than the AMR but has 300 BHP less. (price is 6.5M$)
If they cant sell all 10 they will probably run them anyway so they dont look bad.
Qualifying 15th and 21st (last) for LeMans does not help..
It will be interesting to see if Newey, now back at AM, will also work on their LeMans race cars after this negative qualifying result.

The pace is mainly dictated by BOP. Expectations for this first season have been set accordingly low - no one expected AM to be anywhere near the top of the field. Just finishing and collecting 24hrs data would be a win.
