Not sure if this is the right subfolder but starting somewhere, looks ace, although a death trap. Would it have passed an IVA at some point?

Being a 1988, and depending on when the metalwork was done, I don't think it needs to pass an IVA. Its simply a "modified" 1988 commercial vehicle.

ETA Definitely exempt: https://www.gov.uk/vehicle-approval/exemptions-fro...

Looks fantastic.
Are they monocoque or separate chassis?

Both.....

By way of explanation, the engine compartment and cab typically follow a monocoque style construction, but there's some reinforced points low down at the back. Then a traditional ladder chassis is used for the vehicle from cab rearwards, upon which the pick up body is mounted.

Having said that, it might have a separate chassis after all, being a bit older than modern day pick ups.

So they've modified or altered the structure then. Hhmmm IVA?

I thought initially that it has been stretched, like a limousine. If that were the case, it would need an IVA

But looking closer, I think that's an optical illusion made but the fact the roof has been chopped off.

If the chassis hasn't been changed, it doesn't need an IVA.

The age exemption only applies if the original chassis or monocoque hasn’t been modified.

As soon as you substantially modify a vehicle by carrying out changes to its structure, that puts you into IVA territory.
