Probably the most stupid post in the Le Mans Section

If my Emovis Tag is in a car on a trailer, what happens when I get to a toll.

I have visions of it not being close enough to the receiver / gate sensor and not activating.

I don't really want to take it out of the car and stick it in the van if possible.

Any thoughts or actual experience?

1. Drive the car down and leave the van at home....far more fun?

2. Take the tag off the car and put it on the van, worse things happen at sea......

Have a safe trip smile

Why would you take your car to Le Mans on a trailer in the first place!!

Why can’t you move the tag to the tow car?

I have an Emovis tag and it works great. However in my experience it’s only when the tag is close to level with the payment machine that the gate opens. So I think you are going to have problems if the tag is in the car on the trailer

It's the faff with the double sided tape on both windscreens.

The reversing suggestion has another benefit -

If I had to talk to the bay operator or pay by card I would be on their right side. smile

Leave the holder in place and just hold tge tag against the windscreen. Works fine.

The tag and mounting clip are two separate items.
If you ask at the info office at Le Shuttle they’ll sell/give you a new mounting clip.

Thanks, I didn't realise the mount separated.

As above - detach the blipper from the holder and put in the car that's driving. Worse case scenario, you can just hold it up to the scanner if you don't want to fix it in the car - just make sure the black face (the 'technical' side) is facing the scanner.

It almost certainly won't work from the trailer - I do around 3,000 in France every year (with a tag) and some barriers need you to be up quite close before they'll open. Don't risk it.

Thanks for the advice

I took a Morgan through France for many years and used a tag without it being fixed in the car - just waved it about. I often wondered why the barriers were slow to open or why I had to sometimes get out of the car and hold it even closer. Turned out I had the tag the wrong way around.

How we laughed.
