03 4.2 td Landcruiser 100 on 270k

I am on my 3rd EGR pipe in 2 years. They split around the circumference at the join between the corrugated and straight pipe. I have asked my mechanic to try and figure out why there is too much movement for it to cope with but nothing apparent. I have done approx 30k miles in this time and still runs fine. I have used genuine Toyota parts & replaced gaskets at the same time.

I have one of the old ones and was thinking of asking my fabricator to weld in a more flexible connection, perhaps this ;

Any idea if that is likely to last?

Thanks

Excessive engine or exhaust movement seems like the most likely suspect. It's not clear whether/how that was actually ruled out.

It could also be that the joint has been installed under load because something isn't aligned correctly. That would tend to make them fail quicker.

Yeah, it must be excessive movement, but my mechanic has not been able to figure out why / where it is originating from.

It's a 22 year old truck on 270k miles, it runs great but realistically all rubber bushings / mounts etc are going to be pretty worn out. I don't want to get into changing them all.

Do you think that flexi exhaust coupler I linked might do the job?

Thanks

Personally, if there appears to be no movement between the 2 parts, I would be following up on the second suggestion & making sure it isn't under stress/tension when installed.
