First time user of Rovergauge for use on my Chim. -Newbee !

I've downloaded R.V. but can't connect to the ECU, the message on my laptop says. "Can't connect - no port selected" (or something similar!).

Then I lean I have to download and install FT port software.
Can anybody give me telephone support here please??

Live now.

Regards,
Phil.

Sorted now thanks.

The Rover gauge app is quite a mishmash of details on the opening screen, I found it very confusing.

I found myself thinking "I don't need to see all this junk, just the file to double click on, in order to open the damn thing!"

Couple of points worth noting: Try to sort through all the technical jargon and find the file with the colour picture of Rovergauge, to open,( all the other vegetation is grey)!

You click "connect" in Rovergauge, then another annoying pop up appears, telling you the Comms port isn't selected, which you try to find in "Manage whatever" that is nowhere to be found !

Don't we all love playing these Japanese piano's!!!!

( I'm sure the app designer thinks we enjoy scrolling, trying to find out what to do next !)

Why the Comms port isn't recognised beats me! , it causes a very annoying stop, making you download another additional app , named FT files (or similar) endlessly making you sort through all this additional "vegetation" aswell!

Then you find the Comms port selection isn't now included in windows 11, so you have to go research how to configure Comms ports on Windows 11 on the net.

On returning it's found though right clicking the Windows emblem at the bottom of your screen, then finding out how to select automatic port selection, then returning to R.G. to try to "connect" again, to find the led's aren't flashing red and green on the lead untill you start the engine on your car and somehow, it reluctantly starts to work.

Oh, Mohammed! It Took me all day together up and running!

Nightmare !

I think on most cars you have to disarm the immobiliser too if your viewing with just ignition on.

The author of RG is known to a couple of people on here.
He’s an American enthusiast, who has dug into the ECU programming world off his own back, and built (and repeatedly updated) a very good piece of software if a little functional.
I’m a Mac user, and find anything ‘PC’ to be like pulling teeth, so you have my sympathies, though I am grateful to Colin for his work, and he will also respond to queries and troubleshooting through his GitHub page.

Anyway, glad you got it going, it’s very handy!
