A properly service TVR (with its Cats installed and proper exhaust) doesn't need a "friendly" MOT station frown

Indeed but odd things like backlit number plate and modest handbrake can be a challenge sometimes.

I had a TVR or two over 25 years. I just used the local ATS or similar. (I do confess to insisting on a decelerometer & I may have gently touched the footbrake whilst applying the handbrake hehe)

In theory. It's nice if they have a bit of exoerience with the cars - I had a place laugh at me for taking my S2 to a TVR specialist for servicing - "it's all Ford bits" - just before he leant on the boot to close it rather than lifting it and letting it drop. If I hadn't been there to stop him it would have been damaged fibreglass all around!

Well watching this thread I was amazed at how many said just use any MOT station.
My Chimaera if any of you watch my youtube channel will know that I have completely refurbished the suspension & brakes on the car , Including the big Brembo brake upgrade.
The handbrake cable, the discs, the calipers, the pads are all as new , yet the handbrake is a B--trd to pull on . Due to you being sat low & the handbrake being higher than a weightlifter can pull. So a tester may say your handbrake is duff. When actually it's fine if you have arms like THOR. So I say yes you need a station that knows all this & the tester takes lots of protein in his diet.
Steve.

I wouldn't put my TVR in for an MOT in a place that doesn't know them.

Lets be honest, they're weird and fragile cars.

Your going to have to explain how to get in, how to get out, hope that the tester doesn't put their full weight on the door to lever themselves out and break the door off, or let the bonnet slam down....

Doing research on cars for sale, I've seen them with MoT failures for having no rear number plate lamps. A TVR 'friendly' place would know about them being backlit.

I've also seen a Chimaera for sale where somebody has added an external rear number plate lamp on the back. rolleyes

"How do I get out" is a very common one. smile
