Anyone else noticed that E5 premium petrol is disappearing…Esso round here ( south Warwickshire) have withdrawn it from many “ fuel” stations (mostly mini markets that have pumps, especially the refurbished ones.

Our local ‘little’ filling stations have started stocking it over the last couple of years.

I wonder what alternatives there are if it disappears… can you buy the additives? Although that wouldn’t get round the extra ethanol.

It would be interesting to know what additives can be bought to improve octane from 95 to 99.

Not noticed it disappearing but have noticed a huge price increase. Particularly from Shell.

That's strange. It's been steadily dropping here.

Both my cars are supposed to run on minimum 98 RON "whenever possible" so I generally use Tesco Momentum at my local store as they don't charge nearly as much of a premium as Esso or Shell. And all of their pumps have E5.

But last year in Newcastle the Tesco in Kingston Park only had E5 at a few pumps. And a couple of weeks ago in Scotland most Esso garages also only had E5 at a few pumps, which caused a bit of chaos as I was on a trip with 11 other cars that mostly wanted E5!

All part of the agenda to sway you toward an electric car.
E10 to follow.
Call me cynical, but I believe what I believe.
People who are too naive to see through all of this are the sort that have 'fully vaccinated' around their FB profile pic.......

I sincerely hope nobody on here fits that exact criteria.

Just out of interest. What car is this?

I’ve never came across a UK / Euro spec car that doesn’t run on 95.

I’ve only came across it once when a friend had a Japanese import Impreza WRX STI.

Early UK spec S2000s were 98 RON only.
IIRC the handbook stated that 95 RON should only be used only if 98 wasn't available and only for as short use as possible.

Many cars are not recommended to use E10. Nothing to do with octane, the ethanol content damages plastic tanks and lines etc.
