Our local little filling stations have started stocking it over the last couple of years.
I wonder what alternatives there are if it disappears can you buy the additives? Although that wouldn t get round the extra ethanol.
It would be interesting to know what additives can be bought to improve octane from 95 to 99.I wonder what alternatives there are if it disappears can you buy the additives? Although that wouldn t get round the extra ethanol.
Both my cars are supposed to run on minimum 98 RON "whenever possible" so I generally use Tesco Momentum at my local store as they don't charge nearly as much of a premium as Esso or Shell. And all of their pumps have E5.
But last year in Newcastle the Tesco in Kingston Park only had E5 at a few pumps. And a couple of weeks ago in Scotland most Esso garages also only had E5 at a few pumps, which caused a bit of chaos as I was on a trip with 11 other cars that mostly wanted E5!

All part of the agenda to sway you toward an electric car.
E10 to follow.
Call me cynical, but I believe what I believe.
People who are too naive to see through all of this are the sort that have 'fully vaccinated' around their FB profile pic.......

Just out of interest. What car is this? But last year in Newcastle the Tesco in Kingston Park only had E5 at a few pumps. And a couple of weeks ago in Scotland most Esso garages also only had E5 at a few pumps, which caused a bit of chaos as I was on a trip with 11 other cars that mostly wanted E5!
I’ve never came across a UK / Euro spec car that doesn’t run on 95.
I’ve only came across it once when a friend had a Japanese import Impreza WRX STI.

IIRC the handbook stated that 95 RON should only be used only if 98 wasn't available and only for as short use as possible.
