Re sell after wrapping a ferrari 458
Discussion
Hi all,
Would appreciate some input please. I fell in love with a super rare 458 that main dealer couldn’t sell for 12 months. They ended up losing 18k to sell it. I didn’t buy it as it would be hard to re sell even though i’m in love.
My plan is to buy a black one which i can re sell and then wrap it to look the same and then take the wrap off before i sell.
The issue being i met a guy today who seems to know his stuff who said dealers would see the colour change on the dvla and wouldn’t want to re sell the car and also it affects the prestige of the car if it was once wrapped.
I get that if the paint gets damaged but if not as the wrap company is very good i was left confused.
Any feedback on if he gave good advice would be appreciated!
Thanks

The first post was entirely clear. I'm not surprised one of the answers was pointless given the author but not sure why they both are.
OP: I certainly think colour change due to paint might be an issue but I'd be surprised if a wrap that's been removed would be. But you might do best to call a couple of dealers and get their opinion if you're worried about it.

What was so rare about the original car? Not sure if that adds up really.
Because it was the only paint job of its type ever sent to the UK according to the guy at Ferrari Meridian in Lyndhurst. Here is a picture for you. Shaun580 said:

You should have bought the car you fell in love with. The reason it didn’t sell was that it was overpriced not because the spec was poor. Would appreciate some input please. Now you’re going to mess about with the expense and hassle of a wrap and the residual value hit when selling a previously wrapped car. Together, they probably add up to as much as the hit you’d have taken buying the unmolested car in the spec you actually wanted.
You’ve missed your chance now, but the number one rule of supercar buying is to buy the car you want, not the car you think the next owner will want.

Yikes, not surprised that took a while to sell then.
The car looks quite nice to me. Even though I’m not a fan of bin-bag grey, it makes a nice change from boring old black or rosso corsa (and that’s coming from someone with a history of two cars in rosso corsa). It just goes to show that there’s potentially a bum for every seat

There was also a brown 488 Spider that hung around at DL until it was eventually bought. The brown paint and cloth interior actually worked ok but I couldn’t get away from the fact that it was a brown Ferrari.
