Crashed my Superduke about 7 weeks ago. Only myself, no other parties involved.

Bike is insured through BeMoto.
Accident claim handled via 4th Dimension.
Insurer Allianz.
All modifications were declared.

4th dimension collected the bike 6 weeks ago, inspected it and deemed it unrepairable.

Allianz phoned me 3 weeks ago to query the exhaust. On the policy it’s shown as ‘Aftermarket - Cosmetic’ but the engineer had classified it as performance enhancing so the claim handler guy asked me a few questions about it and said they would be in touch.

I’ve called them every week since for a status update on the claim only to be told they were still waiting on a response from the engineer.

I gave Allianz my usual Friday call yesterday and got through to a lovely woman who put me on hold for a fair while, while she checked the claim status.

When she came back she said she had a couple of questions she needed to ask me which went exactly like this ….

Her - ‘At the time of the accident do you believe the bike was fully legal to be on the road.

Me - Yes

Her - At the time of the accident would you say the exhaust was a contributing factor in the accident?

Me - 100% not.

Her - ‘Ok, that’s fine we accept the claim then. I will phone 4th dimension now who will be in touch with you next week with an offer.

And that was it. Decision made on a 21k claim based on me giving a single and 2 word answer to 2 questions.

It s nuts. Not related, but Aviva wanted a £50 premium on our Nationwide holiday insurance as my wife has an inhaler she never uses. In fact the new doctors we signed up to prescribed one but she never collected.

It s why I think you must be a nutter to have a decat pipe. It won t be an issue, until it s an issue. It s why I went with a EU5 pipe (catalyst) with mine. And declared it as a performance part.

When they class aftermarket heated grips as an example of a modification, just detail everything.

Radge.

fking great word, the useage of which is lost on the southern ponces.

I went to school with a guy called Ranjit, we all called him Radge (or Radge-The Gadge).
When we started going out and about as teenagers, he became the target of the usual small-town bks because of his skin colour so ended up in more than his fair share of scraps and scrapes; this was where he truly earned the 'Radge' nickname and from the age of about 16 onwards, no one ever messed with him again.
