British Grand Prix advice
Discussion
My wife and I have tickets for the British Grand Prix and having never been before was just looking for any tips/advice for the day. Our tickets are for Becketts Corner so hoping we have a good view from here. What sort of time do we need to arrive at Silverstone so the queue to get in isnt too bad? Will it be horrendous trying to get out when its over? A mate of mine who went years ago said it took him 4 hours to get out!
Do you have grandstand seats of General Enclosure?
If GE you’ll need to be there for gates open in order to bag the best spot.
If grandstand you can arrive later but you will queue. Depends how much of the race programme you want to watch.
Have you booked official parking with bus transfer to the circuit or have you made your own arrangements?
Where are you travelling from? Eg If you’re coming from the west don’t park to the east of the circuit.
Yes you’ll queue to get out even if taking the bus. There are more buses then ever this year but even they get stuck in the traffic going out and bear in mind they have to try and get back in against the flow of traffic to pick up the next bus load.
The queues leaving the circuit ran way past 1am last year after the concert finished.

TL:DR if you’re general admission arrive while it’s still dark outside, if you have a reserved seat then you can be a little later, don’t forget there’s loads of support races before the F1 and loads of entertainment afterwards if you’re not in a hurry to leave. Park at Silverstone Schools.

If you have a grandstand seat, there is no pressure to arrive at any particular time. If you're not fussed about the 'undercard', you can roll up as I did a couple of years ago at 245PM, missing absolutely all of the traffic and having a relaxed lunch on the way.https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

Silverstone school parking is a wise choice. It's a fair walk from there, about 45 minutes, but you'll miss most of the traffic getting out.
