I previously owned a v8 Vantage Manual Coupe, see here:

https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

I originally wanted a V12s which wasnt possible as the car was to be used as a daily and live outside.

A few stars aligned (house purchase sorted, new job, some good investments, etc) and so the search started in March this year.

I took a few days off work to go and look at all the available cars this was prompted by a Green Manual S coupe with yellow highlights and a red V12s Roadster being available.

The plan was to buy a manual Green coupe or similar with the later dash.

I had also seen a Yellow S roadster (old style dash) and DBR9 Green S roadster with performance pack sell twice in late 2024 which I d have also considered.

The green and yellow roadsters can be seen below (pictures taken from this forum).

So the test drives commenced…

I also test drove a 2020 Vantage Roadster in Orange and an earlier V12 Manual just for completeness.

Having test drove the roadster i preferred the open top experience (iv previously owned bikes and i used to drive a Z4MR), manual roadsters were outside of what I wanted to spend.

At this stage I definitely wanted the newer shape dash, the manual coupe pictured had some paint damage on the front nose plus it had 30k+ miles. The silver roadster although notably cheaper looked tired (double the miles) compared with the red car. The spec on the red car was full carbon, PPF and a Capristo exhaust which made the car feel even more special in addition to the spec, the car was pretty much as new with the exception of some very minor marks.

So after a few days deliberation I came to the conclusion that I d actually prefer an immaculate, high spec roadster over a high mileage coupe for similar money. Even with £20-25k more for an immaculate coupe I still preferred the roadster experience.

So the criteria was set:
Roadster with SSIII
Bright colour
Lightweight wheels
Less than 20k miles/or well looked after
Revised MY 2015 dash

Optional:
PPF
Buckets
Performance pack or Exhaust

After some research I found out the performance pack removed the detailed silver sections under the bonnet and Aston Martin logo, plus I preferred the coloured splitter. I tried the buckets in the GT12 at Bristol and another manual and these were also deemed non essential.

Additionally in 2016 - 2018 only 30ish cars were registered according to how many left. Some of the 2015 cars have the later dash but not that many from my experience so I was looking at probably 40-50 cars most of which were black, silver, white, etc which ruled them out.

I then decided to contact Chiltern Aston who informed me that a deposit had been placed on the car so I left my name and number and asked for first refusal if it fell through .

First thing Monday morning (later on in March) I got the call so the deposit was placed!

I was referring to the two roadsters smile the green roadster shown was sold twice in 2024 through Chiltern.

The black wheels do it no favours in pictures but in person the detail is nice and clear. I ve seen a car with gloss black wheels vs the satin I currently have which is an option. I d also consider bright calipers but the standard red clashes (in my opinion) and yellow may be too much. In addition my car has the black lipstick, etc.

Here is a slightly diff spec: https://www.instagram.com/p/DLDIRuKsPr4/?igsh=X3NG...

The lack of yellow on the front was a major clue.

And the fact that the one in the photo is sat in my garage.

Absolutely stunning. I have heard AM has an amazing array of optional colors, but most of their customers seem to gravitate towards greys and black with the odd green thrown in.

So the spec of the car is as follows:

Sportshift III
Capristo exhaust
Full PPF
Lots of Carbon (console, paddles, kick plates, door handles, under bonnet, etc)
700w stereo
Rear camera
Heated seats

Condition - 14k miles (15k+ now), immaculate paint, disk centres, under bonnet, etc.

Scale model of house and car (scale models at 1:64 don’t exist of the Vantage S Roadster but I’ll pick up a red DBS convertible soon which is closest), I also have the Autoart Vantage S coupe in silver in 1:18

First trip on collection weekend was to taxed and tasty at Goodwood:

Absolutely gorgeous!

Bet it sounds rather fruity with that exhaust as well.

Indeed it does! It has valves, so has four options from closed to fully open cloud9

Next up was Buckmore karting

I then got the opportunity to meet the previous owner to pick up some accessories (indoor cover, battery conditioner, oil filler cap, boot mat, etc) and original parts including the factory exhaust. I prefer the Capristo but I m also a fan of keeping the parts to return a car back to factory specification.

Additionally as the car was due to live outside for a few months I invested in a Classic Addition's car cover for just over £200 delivered. This has helped keep the heat/sun off of the leather of the dash which is a known issue with vantages and the rain which will probably do the discs/hubs no favours even for a short period plus it s better for security.

This has meant I have to clean the car more frequently but its a sensible compromise and has been great so far.

Additionally managed to pick up an original Vantage S Brochure

Then on to Supercar Sunday at Goodwood as the car was accepted to park on the track.... more pics to follow
