I took the cold-side pipe off the turbo on my 2009 Cooper S and found a small pool of oil (see pic).

Anyone know if this is excessive?

The car is smoking from the exhaust so suspecting a turbo failure.

Its not unusual, but clean it and look again in a few days.

Regarding smoke is that all the time or after hard revs then foot of the pedal and is it blue or grey?

Also chech intercooler pipe for oil (front left, when you look at engine)

and finally whats your oil burn like, how many miles to 1L

Thanks for the info. The smoke turned out to be a holed piston! The turbo is being replaced also.

Symptoms were smoking exhaust, misfire and smoke from under bonnet. It was actually a chunk of the side of the piston that broke, near the rings.
