Hi I am new to ph. Have recently purchased a 98 TVR chimera 400, with about 78000 miles , well serviced and frequently used . I presently have the car in France. Everything seemed to work well until I put it on a trickle charger which came with the car .the now won’t start a can’t I guess disengage the immobiliser. All the dash ,lights etc all work but the key fob will not open or lock the doors , , I’ve read allot about bypassing the immobiliser, but it seems strange that the fob will not operate the doors , when I got the car there was a 10cm piece of wire in the door pocket, I guess for some sort of bypass or hot wiring . Have tried the usual fuses , batteries etc , anybody got any thoughts , would be most welcome, ,cheers Chris

Hi Chris, welcome to PH.
I have moved your question into the TVR bit of the forum as this where you are most likely to get the right answer.

Can you ask the previous owner?
It sounds like either your fob has developed a fault, or the pairing between fob and alarm needs resetting...

The next person to contact might be Carl Baker, who is extremely helpful and knowledgable on the alarm systems.

If your stuck maybe try a battery disconnect for a minute, worth a try.

Cheers thanks for that, I will try Carl baker, spoke to previous owner who thought it was flat battery. I guess from what you are saying even if I bypass immobiliser the fob will not lock and unlock the doors, thanks Chris

If the previous owner meant flat battery in the car, have you tried connecting it to a known good battery (in your daily driver for example)?
