Outback MY22 Weedy Air Con

I know it has been very hot recently, but the MY22 Outback takes ages to cool and never seems to get very cold.

Is this a design issue or should I be looking for a fault/regas?

You've checked the pollen filter?
Also does it have rear aircon and is it turned on, i ask the latter because my ageing Prado rear aircon needs to be switched on both at the touch screen and at the rear aircon switch on the controls behind the centre console to work properly.
