Hi All. Took delivery of a brand new Qashqai e-power N Connecta last week and it’s been running fine. The electric motor has been totally silent, however, during the last run, I’ve noticed a slight whine when coming to a halt and when taking off. It’s only done 300 miles. I’m not sure whether it was there from the start ( I don’t think so but could be wrong). My question is, is it normal to hear a quiet whine on (I’m assuming), the electric part of the e-power engine? It only lasts 1-2 seconds while the car starts off and slows to a halt. The ICE isn’t running at the time. Thank you.

Jimbo.

That’ll almost certainly be the electric drive part. It’s interesting how many other noises you pick up now they’re not drowned out by the combustion engine. I wouldn’t worry.

Thanks Jimbo. I had wrongly assumed that the e-power would be silent (except for the ICE). This is my first EV...

I think Jimbo is right, no noise from the engine etc, no road noise as still only going slowly. Therefore the slightest noise can be heard, plus the vehicle may be deliberately not being silent for pedestrian awareness.

It always is a shock to me, maybe shock is putting it too strongly, but the contrast when shifting to ICE after a spell in EV and vice versa. Not just in noise either.
