Hi all,

Wife and I are off to the Maldives (Intercontinental Resort) in 7 weeks time.

This kinda feels like a post in poor taste - but as someone who doesn’t travel much. Is there a possibility that flights going to or being connected via Dubai will be suspended indefinitely.

I’d rather be safe and delay our holiday (not that is an option atm) but it got me thinking - it’s impacting those this weekend and maybe into early next week but will flights remain on pause?

Should be fine - usually overfly Saudi and Egypt now to avoid the spicy bits.

Looks like fights suspended to ME for BA and Singapore Airlines.

I stand corrected! Emirates have only cancelled flights to Iran and Iraq so far.

Hopefully, there are alternative routes if necessary as the final destination isn't in the ME.

I was supposed to be in Baghdad now but the airspace was closed the day before my flight. Airlines have been talking vaguely about resuming flights this coming week. It's completely unpredictable, though. I got a quote to fly to Amman instead and found that only Royal Jordanian are currently operating. Prices are at least four times the usual.

Last April I was flying to Amman on the night the Iranians started firing at Israel. Had just entered Jordanian airspace when the plane was diverted to Cyprus and then returned to the UK.

I should really just stay at home.....

Anything can happen. Hopefully in 7 weeks flights will be in and out of UAE more or less as usual with new flight paths avoiding Iran.

Who knows though? If Iran start attacking ships in the Gulf there could be missiles flying all over.

At this point the Russians, Iranians and even North Koreans seem like sane good guys.
