Stansted airport pick up advice...
Discussion
Looking to pick up my daughter from Stansted next weekend on her way home from Spain. To pre-empt all the 'why can't she make her own way home?' comments, normally she would be doing just that but we will passing the airport at about the time she gets in, so for once she can have a lift.
Or can she? Looking at the Stansted website it seems to imply that drop off only is allowed, not pick up, and that only on payment of £7.
Has anyone any experience of picking someone up from Stansted? Despite having flown in ad out countless times, I have only ever driven myself and parked, or got the train.
One alternative that did occur to me is that she could go one stop on the train to Bishops Stortford, and meet us there instead.
It all seems ridiculously convoluted for what must surely be a pretty everyday occurrence.

Just direct her to the medium stay car park - free parking for an hour for you.
Obviously wait somewhere before clocking in if you need - there s a very busy petrol station nearby with people doing the same!
This, although I think it's called mid-stay. If coming from the east on the A120, there is parking layby not far from the airport exit, which happens to be right by the mid-stay carpark entrance.Obviously wait somewhere before clocking in if you need - there s a very busy petrol station nearby with people doing the same!

Yep. Have also done this in the last few months. Hang around somewhere such as the Birchanger services (there is a nearer Mcdonalds/Starbucks but take care with the parking restrictions) and wait for a call so you know they are ready to go. Very easy really.did this last week so 100% accurate, dont know why is says drop only , they dont know any different

It depends on how tight fisted you are, and whether or not your wife thinks that you or she should meet your daughter as she emerges from customs.
If you want to do that, just park in short stay, get out of your car and walk into the terminal to meet your daughter.
It will definitely be a splash and dash from outside. Not actually going into Stansted when I don't have to! We'll be at a family gathering about 30mins north, so will wait til she's out and waiting, then set off. If you want to do that, just park in short stay, get out of your car and walk into the terminal to meet your daughter.

There is a small bus layby here: 51.88649203866661, 0.2572921258671058
It is walkable from the terminal via the train station, its also the staff bus drop off / pick up point. Taxi drivers will drop you here if you dont want to pay the fee. Just wait at the services until she is nearby.

There's a specific pick up point in Zone K where you can pull up just after the Zone K bus stop, so no need to find a space.
I've done it a few times and it works fine.
