Hi,

The wife and I booked a 2 week holiday for the first two weeks of September in lovely a apartment in the hills near a lagoon, Casares near Estipona, in the Costa del Sol Spain.

We will be taking our two children, 1 and 3 years old, and renting an estate car for the duration of the trip.

We want to split the holiday, travelling doing a day out one day (child friendly) and relaxing (as much as possible with two wee ones) at the pool, lagoon or beach every other day.

I have stayed in this area twice in the past, both times in Duquesa, but that was all pre-covid before wife and kids, mostly drinking and sight seeing. We will be visiting Estipona for it's beauty, Gibraltar for the rock and monkeys and certainly Duquesa port for some memories. Port Banus will be a flying visit just to spot some nice motors!

Suggestions for days out with the kids and nice places to have lunch appreciated!

Cheers

I take it you are staying at Alcazaba, Estepona has changed a lot since Covid, with a lot of the promenade having been pedestrianised, I think you'll be pleasently suprised, really nice there now,
Work is still ongoing on the road up to Ronda after the landslide, but hopefully that will be open by September (we're also back there then, and hoping to get a drive up) always worth a day visit, if you go up there the San Pedro way, then return through Gaucin and Casares, there's some great views.

We have a place not far from where you are staying on Dona Julia golf course.

Estepona is a nice place to spend some time. Sunday morning market the place gets a real bustle to it down by the marina. I let the wife go off browsing & just sit in a cafe bar people watching.

Duquesa port has some nice enough places, without the prices. Favourite place down there is Tasty Bar. Really friendly, huge G&Ts, decent food on the port.

If you feel like taking a longer journey, head west past Gib & Tarifa and there's some huge beaches, though the water can be a bit rougher. tends o be a bit quieter than the main Costa. Further round & Cadiz is nice for a day out, though its a 90min drive from where you will be staying.

I'd guess that is only comparable to getting over the Gib border timing wise
