Morning all, I have a laptop with ISTA and BMW standard tools installed on it. The laptop is now dying (takes 2/3 attempts to start, sometimes crashes on opening ISTA). I suspect the hard drive is on the way out as no updates have been performed; the computer hasn't been connected to the Internet for years. So I can't see anything that would cause software problems.

Has anyone successfully copied their ISTA/INPA installation onto an external hard drive and installed it on a new laptop? Whilst it should be simple to copy all the program files over, there seem to be no .exe files among these so I assume it will not install on a new machine?

Either clone the hard drive or set up from scratch on a replacement laptop.

Yes, a fresh download is always an option but it would be good if I can just move my working installation from one laptop to another. I'll try it and see.
