Hi guys...
I want to put up a wall bracket, are they universal for all TV's ?
I have a 77 inch Sony, and wondered if i can buy any type of bracket for it ?
Thanks in advance...

Check what sort of mounting system the TV is (the standard is VESA, which has various sizes, and most mounts will be able to cope with different VESA sizes by using extension arms etc).

Then choose a wall bracket that has the correct mount and is able to cope with the size/weight of your TV, as some will have lower limits than your 77".

I have a smaller Sony.
43 inch.
From memory its VESA is 20x40cm.
Which is fine, lots of cheap brackets on ebay 20x40, but one is 20W x 40H while the other is 20H x 40W.

Some of the cheap brackets are a bit wobbly, mine is supposed to take a TV that's much heavier than what I have, but I'd not trust it!

Main thing is that you bolt it into the wall properly.

Plasterboard won't hold up a heavy TV forever, ask me how I know.

I have a 77inch and you will need a decent wall mount as they are heavy. Read the manual for the correct visa mount. Most importantly is getting the correct screws. Use wall anchors.

If you don't need it to reach outwards and bend round, I'd recommend the two circle picture frame hanging style bracket. I use this on all my wall mounted TVs as it's simple, strong and keeps the TV tight to the wall (which also minimises the force it exerts on the screws in to the wall which is useful on one with is on a plasterboard only wall).

Example:

Although it says up to 75" yours will be fine unless it's a particularly chunky heavy model.

They look a great idea, just guess you need to be wary if your TV has connections at the back as they will impeded on the wall?

Most TVs have ports that point down or side ways, few are perpendicular to the face of the TV. If they are then most cables can be got with a right angled connector, or similar with an adaptor. There's typically still a good cm between the back face of the TV and wall with these. The kits usually come with two studs that go in the lower VESA mount points to stand it off the wall the same amount as the hanger using the top points so the whole thing is hanging on the same plane as the wall.

Using these it's remarkable how much more spacious a small room can feel compared to the 10cm+ the articulated brackets push the TV out by.
