Basically are they any good. The pub about 10 minutes walk away from me was a family run pub with good food decent beer and somewhere i could go without worrying about my licence. It is due to reopen under new ownership (Stonegate). They claim to be the biggest pub chain in the country which puts me in mind of wetherspoons and my experiences with them have not been very good.

I've just Googled the Stonegate pubs near me.

There are loads & are a varied selection. I think they are good at matching their pubs with the location.

I was actually surprised to see how many of the pubs I didn't know were Stonegate.

Eclectic!

Sadly this is becoming more common with pubs closing down more often than they are open and i can't walk as far as i used to because of osteoarthritis in my right knee.

It’s true. I struggle a bit with mobility at times but picked a place 400 yards from 5 pubs and 800 yards from 20 pubs.

Have you looked at the Stonegate list in your area so you know what to expect?

Speaking from experience (as a customer) they are only as good as the person that buys the lease from them. My local is owned by Stonegate and the leaseholder has no clue and is allowing his string of "managers" to run it into the ground.
