Having owned a Defender Td5, Disco 3, 4, 5 then back to a 4, I thought I'd try a Grenadier and a mate has lent me his for ten days. My initial impression is that it feels like driving my Td5 with the Disco3 comfort. Adjusting to the steering and offset pedals but my initial impression is positive with loads of character. This is the petrol version with 20k miles and aside from software updates and sticking door buttons, it has been reliable. On a 90mile run mainly M4, M25 then A roads it's averaged 22mpg. I have a 250mile run back to Devon tomorrow and then I'll see how it copes with daily life. Clearly a rare vehicle given how many people have commented on it while fuelling up. And it looks epic in green.

More to follow.

Excellent, looks lovely. I’ve had one for 18 months and love it.

They really are the spiritual successor to the Defender. Slightly flawed in places but still huge character, much more usable, even more capable and certainly better engineered and put together.

Enjoy!

I had a one hour test drive in the diesel version across a variety of town, country lane and motorway and averaged over 26mpg. The torque is noticeably more than the petrol and the diesel felt better suited to the character of the car. After a week, I'm mighty impressed.

On insurance, fully comp was £300 for a Devon postcode which is almost identical to my Subaru ForesterXT. I was quoted c £450 for a service.

Yep my first and second service were both around £450.

Insurance was £500 on a Multicar policy with loads of NCB and a rural Scottish postcode so your quote is very good.

Best garage near you is Compass Bridgewater, TYom, Alex and Martyn, good folk.

I've used mine to travel up and down Cornwall to South wales, take time to make sure seat is a good position and its fun

Petrol,

Roof rack and batwing,

Issue with the petrol is if they're warmed up and you misbehave above 6K, there's a brum brum and it shifts
