2002 ford ranger 3.0 i had the truck idleing in the driveway about to leave and it died. now everything works until i turn the key over then nothing. all lights go out, no sounds, nothing. i replaced starter nothing. replaced battery nothing. replaced coil pack nothing. replaced fuses nothing. voltage is low even with fully charged battery and the theft light only flashes when the key is out of the ignition. i checked the imapct switch its fine.

Instead of throwing the parts cannon at it, diagnose the problem.

If the battery is fully charged and disconnected from the vehicle it should show around 12.6 volts. Do you get that? If not, either your meter is faulty or it isn't fully charged. You should see the same voltage when it's installed in the vehicle. If you don't see that, you need to work out why not.

OP would have lost thousands by selling a broken car/truck rather than what could have been a simple fix.

But at least he sorted the problem & didn't need to answer any stupid (aka helpful) questions. wink
