Hi

I went to login to email this morning and started to get 2 OTP texts? Been having alot of problems trying to login recently, keeps getting 'timed out'. It's now got to the point where I can't log in at all, correct password etc just keep getting timed out at various stages of login(?, sometimes I can't even get to the login screen. Haven't changed anything on my PC at all, exact same setting for everything and this was never a problem. Occasionally the initial text might not appear, but 'resend' would always come through and logged in straight away.

I'm useless with It / Tech etc, just wondered if someone could help shed some light on what's going on.

I'm pretty sure only one of those three is legitimate. I'd log in from another device (not your PC) & see if you can set up a Passkey or different form of MFA to a code on your phone - do you have an Authenticator app downloaded?

Thanks for reply.

No, don't have that - which would you recommend?

I don't understand how a 'device' can have problems, tried resetting router, changing VPN location (never had a problem with paid VPN on stock settings, installed nearly a year ago). Phone seem to work, but keep getting more and more issues with accessing sites on my PC?

All updates get done, all passwords are 10-20 characters and unique to each site, but slowly getting more and more issues with logging in.

EDIT:

Dug out and fired up my old PC, win 10, MS security, Malwarebytes and logged straight in to email 1st attempt?

I use MS Authenticator so you could try that. Is it just you Yahoo account you're having problems with?

I’d check the problem pc for viruses etc, you may have something messing with the dns settings or a browser addon that is being mischievous.

With OTP, yeh, but more specifically, it's just on my 'new' PC which should be most secure, it has VPN and most of my downloads, when I do any, are on my old PC.

I have malwarebytes, bit defender (I think these are free versions) and standard Win MS security - none of these pick anything up?

Any recommendations always welcome.

When I used to use OTPs for my Yahoo account it was usually glitchy and unreliable. The text messages wouldn't arrive, I'd request numerous replacements, then eventually they'd all arrive at once several hours later.

Having an authenticator app (Aegis in my case) makes things so much easier anyway, but particularly so with Yahoo.
