Being a new member is a PITA

Dear PH,
Can I ask that you update the new member info to cover the following.
1. The irritating captcha you have to complete before posting and this lasts for the first 24 hours after activating your account.
2. Which sub-forums you can't post in for the first 14 days, 1000 years, etc.
3. The fact that even if you can post if you are quoting someone whose post has a link in it i.e. one that has already been posted you can't post your reply.
Getting a passport is easier.

I do have some sympathy for those new members who are impacted by the “can’t upload pics” restriction but if it keeps out the spammers it’s a price that I’m happy for them to pay…..
Well first off, getting a passport in the UK is ridiculously easy and simple. If that's your yardstick for difficulty I'd be worried.
Secondly the Captcha is there because we've a history of Spammers. These forums are blessedly low in Spam and that's why they're good. Same with restrictions on posting links, anti spam measures.
Thirdly, access to some forums is restricted for good reason. You'll learn why in good time... Or become one of said reasons in time.
