DVLA Question

How do I tell the DVLA that I'm permanently taking a car off the road in order to turn it into a race car?

I think you will have to keep sending in a SORN every year. The only alternative is to say it has been scrapped but if you do that and a future purchaser returns it to the road you could be in trouble and you won't have a V5 to prove that you have ownership to a potential purchaser.

If you wish to return the car to road-spec after a few years of racing it, then you'll need to sorn it. If you don't intent to return it ot the road, then mark it as scrapped.

I can see the advert in autotrader in 5 years time: "never raced or rallied"

you cannot piss on what you cannot catch !!! spose you could drive round the circuit in the opposite direction and that would give the opportunity for a head on rub each lap....or less conspicuously have a go each time you are lapped.

......either way the SORN route would be being highly optimistic!!!
