Boring question but after some opinions smile

Having never had one, we've finally moved into a place with a proper space for a full size freestanding dishwasher. No idea really what features are worth the extra money, but ideally we want something at the lower end of the scale (<£400).

Looking at Bosch, purely on the basis I can get 30% off through work. Any must have features or things to avoid?

My mate on the golf course had a beep on an app to tell him his wash had finished! hehe

Not sure why you'd need that.

I've had Bosch/Neff for years and years and they've been great.

yep, we did this for a long time, changed them ever 2.5 years on avg

got feed up with changing them so got a BOSCH with a 5 year warranty ...

if i recall only the series 6 and 8 units are made in Germany, I got lucky as JL had a clearance sale on some EoL 8 units so we got one for £600

yikes

I had a Neff one come with my new house in 1997. I moved out in 2018 and it was still perfect! That's 10 dishwashers in your old system hehe

same, the original one in the house lasted 15 odd years, they are manufactured to fail now, the last one had a sevaral components incl the pump combined into a single plastic unit, a minor part on it failed, its not servicable, the replacement cost was £260 + fitting, we only paid £220 for the dishwasher ...

also to be fair, its used everyday, often twice a day if the grandkids stay over

To be fair, I bet it took me six months to be brave enough to use it hehe And then probably got used once a week. (I'm very good at recycling mugs & Weetabix bowls biggrin)

Cutlery draw. Absolutely must have this. We’ve just got a new one with a normal basket and it’s a pain in the cock. Hate it.

This. Get one with the top tray for knives etc. An adjustable height middle shelf's useful too, for the times where you need a bit more height. Trundle to your local library and see which is Which's current budget choice.

Yes recently gone from a full size hotpoint to a slimline Bosch in a house move, cutlery draw is such a good idea, it maxsmises space in the bottom so you can fit more In

One thing I miss about the hotpoint, the door used to open at the end of the cycle so plastics/ silicones would dry, the Bosch doesn’t do that, but does have a extra dry function I always forget to use

It also has a app, which of course is pointless

An app's a convenient way to time it for off peak, if you're on an E7 or EV tariff, rather than stabbing timer buttons multiple times on the door.

I know quality isn’t what it was but I’ve got a 20 year old Bosch that runs at least once a day. Never had any bother with it.

We got a cheap homark one discounted with a B&Q kitchen in 1995

I think I replaced the heater element once

The tablet dispenser drawer fell apart but we solved that issue by throwing in the tablet manually

it finally died a couple of years ago I was quite impressed how well it lasted................ 28 bloody years!!!!

I know this because I'm constantly reminded that we have had the kitchen too long

Mind you it hasn't lasted as well as the "free" tumble drier (Bought a washing machine in 1982 and came with a free tumble...........)

Still going strong!!!!

Recently moved house from a fitted kitchen with a Samsung dishwasher to a non fitted kitchen so after some brief research bought a Smeg. It knocks the Samsung in to a cocked hat. 1) for the cutlery drawer instead of basket 2) for automatically popping the door open for a few minutes at the end of the cycle so that steam doesn't condense back on to things and leave them wet. 3) for having a much larger access to the filter in the bottom for cleaning and fishing out any rogue sweetcorn, whichhas a habit of sabotaging drain pumps on dishwashers.

Certainly worth having a look on the Miele outlet website.

Not at the OPs budget, even in the outlet though.
