Photography Competition July - View from above
Discussion
The competition theme for July is ‘View from above’
It could be from a mountain, a building, a ladder, an aircraft... basically any photo from an elevated viewpoint. Quite open to creative interpretations of the theme too.
Good luck!
The photos taken must be your own work
The competition will run from the first to the last day of the month.
The winner from the previous month decides on the topic for following month and judges it at the end of the month
Entries and discussion on a single thread, please.
All entrants acknowledge that they may indeed win and that their adherence to convention ensures everyone else's continued fun.
Winners should update the Competition Wiki (it's easy)
Photos entered can be as large as you like, although bear in mind if too large, it may not be possible to see the whole image on some screens. Links to larger versions are permissible.
If after 7 days of a competition ending, either a winner has not been declared, or the winner has not created a new thread, a new thread should be started, with the topic set as whatever the topic was 10 years ago, based on this wiki.

Roof of the 871 ft 900 North Michigan building in Chicago, from the 94th floor Cloud bar at the former John Hancock Tower. Taken a couple of years before Putin went all in, but quite a large Ukranainian community in Chicago apparently so most likely related to that somehow. Nice bar, window seats not for those not fond of heights (like me
). Taken with a potato and slightly shaky hands.

A few years ago, my son and I were a bit bored heading into a bank holiday weekend. We had a crazy idea of chartering a helicopter and getting them to take the doors off so we could get some clear shots.
Just shy of 5pm on a Sunday afternoon, we called HeliAir in High Wycombe, who obliged and the next day we had a jaunt around London at 1,000 feet.
In the way back, we passed over Pinewood studios and I got this shot - zoom in for the detail and just imagine how much effort went into creating a street of fake old houses

Ok, I have a drone and am a light aircraft pilot so have plenty of shots from above, but thought I'd go a little more macro for this entry just to be contrary. Taken from above on a frosty Autumn walk a few years back, it was my seasonal iPhone wallpaper for a while. Nothing remarkable, but I like it and it fits the brief.

A couple more days for entries, keep them coming
Here's a non-entry of mine for further inspiration, it was probably processing this one which put this month's theme in my head to start with.

Second place, I like the wide angle perspective - it was a close decision between first and second!
