So a long suffering TSB customer, now being purchased by a bank who appears to have an even worse customer services, if that is even possible... Is it time to move the bank account?

The only issue I've had with Santander in 20+ years is thier inability to stop sending me post despite all my settings being online only biggrin Thier phone app and website are really good, and the one time I had some fraudulent payments on my credit card (I think it got skimmed in Italy) they sorted it out really quickly.

A few years ago I had an awful experience with Santander after which I’ve enjoyed a really good experience with TSB so hoping this buyout doesn’t happen.

Me two, but I went to Nationwide and have no desire to leave!

So according to Wikipedia, one Spanish bank (Sabadell) bought TSB for £1.7 billion in 2015.

Ten years later, Sabadell agrees to sell TSB to another Spanish bank for £2.65 billion.

Looks like a good deal for Sabadell.

Doubtless TSB's customers will be praying that this latest takeover isn't going to involve a botched transfer of account records from Sabadell's IT systems to Santander's. They won't want a repeat of the switch from Lloyds Bank's platform to Sabadell's a few years ago, which was an utter disaster.

I suppose that Santander's aim will be to asset strip TSB's property portfolio by closing and selling off all of the branch offices, just like they did with their own.

I have banked with Santander for a decade and mortgage for 5 years. Impeccable customer service and not a single mistake.
I have had savings with TSB, and again no issues at all.

Nationwide however, they could not even open the account they were so utterly woeful!

Agreed that this will be a 'get rid of costs, close branches, remove staff, merge products, but grab all of TSB's customers...." project.

If I was a TSB customer I’d be bailing out now.

I had a dreadful experience with Santander in September last year which involved them voluntarily paying me £500.

I got the ombudsman involved as well but by the time they pulled their finger out I had my money back and was £500 up so just moved on.

Will never touch anything to do with Santander again.
