An interesting video. I don’t think any car manufacturer is that virtuous these days and most brands will have Chinese components in their cars….however, BYDs PR machine and production practices mean I will never own one having watched this (not my type of car ATM though).

People buying Chinese cars who don't live in China should be in the simpletons thread.

Oh, I dunno. They seem to be shaking the Germans out of the idea that people will buy any overpriced old crap with the right badge on it, that’s not a bad thing.

And that one didn't have any legs either as noone really cares.

I've seen loads of BYD's on the road. They look pretty decent and competitively priced to be fair.

I think we've already established that the average PH'er has the social conscience of Vladimir Putin and would happily see children fed into a meat grinder if it meant five pounds off the monthlies.

I am not really sure what the issue is here. It maybe one step further than many other companies would go. These corporate jollies have always existed and if you say bad things about a brand at best you get blacklisted or at worst sued.

Do you think western manufacturers care where their raw materials and components come from, who made them? Companies do whatever they can get away with to get those numbers up.

Nope. All about the bottom line and always has been.
