Hi everyone. Just bought a used 2 series from a main dealer.

Showed up on mismatched tyres and 3x budget tyres ( Maxtrek brand, which I ve never heard of).

I had specifically asked about whether the tyres would be premium branded, and was told they have to supply BMW approved tyres. Also missing all the valve caps.

Also, didn t come with floor mats which I felt was a bit odd ?

Am I right to be annoyed (mainly about the tyres) ? Tempted to just reject the car but keen to hear others views.

If they told you they would be BMW approved & they aren't then you have something.

Things like this should always be in writing on the order if you are going to be specific about it.

approved or recommended? I'd imagine that approved (by the dealership) isn't worth the paper it's written on

Yup. I probably should have annotated the order form. Just didn’t think a main dealer could put budget tyres on a bmw.

Yet if you phoned their service team for a quote they'd tell you they could only fit Bridgestones at £300 a tyre.

Of course they can. Overpriced also.

Correct, took Mrs E's car for an MOT at the main dealers a couple of years ago & they wanted the price of Assy 5's to fit some Chinese cr@p that I stated I wouldn't fit to a wheelbarrow.

And here's me thinking that BMW dealers would/should only fit Star marked (i.e. BMW approved) tyres.

The question is - does a BMW they get as a part ex or from auction, that’s got 3 tyres with tread above the limit for a approved used car, keep them as they pass the limit test or does it change tyres to a premium brand regardless?

If they’re below the limit when they get the car then they would most likely fit the premium tyre

If it’s an AUC, it must have BMW approved tyres.

That was my assumption. But I guess “maxtrek” is now BMW approved ??

Main dealers only sell and recommend premium tyres.

Main dealers only supply budget when they are paying.

That's universal.

Their approved rules will be change tyres when trend is <xmm
