Macbook air black screen wont unlock

Anyone else had this? Macbook is only 6 months old.

Leave the laptop on its own for say 10 min, come back screen is black. Press the unlock button (top right) - nothing happens.

Tap space / return etc nothing happens.

Track pad works but just shows cursor.

Only way to get it to unlock is close the lid and then open the lid.

I assume this is not normal?!

Nope; there’s an issue (sounds like it could be Logic Board based or similar) - it’s well within warranty; get onto AppleCare and get it back to them and sorted ASAP

Could it be that the screen has turned off? Might require the lid to be closed and opened again to wake it up.

Have you tried fiddling around with these settings?



Just tried it with my M2 MacBook Pro and it did wake up when I touched the track pad so might be a bug in the software on yours. Is it up-to-date?
