Anyone heard the adverts for this on the radio, starring Joanna Lumley?

I have for the past few months, but could not make head nor tail of what on earth it was.

I tried googling it one evening...

"general Joanna Lumley", "Joanna Lumley food app" etc but couldn't find anything

Then tried to search "general" on JustEat, which is tells you to do in the advert and nothing.

It was an absolute mystery as to what this company was, what they do and how to find any info on them.

Absolutely abysmal marketing and comms, but anyway, I've just managed to find the website...

https://www.gbcanteen.com/about

and still have no idea real idea as to what they do.

"At General Bilimoria’s Canteen, we believe that great food should be trustworthy, fresh, and delicious. That’s why we’ve taken the guesswork out of ordering by partnering exclusively with top-rated restaurants across a variety of cuisines. Whether you’re craving comforting classics, bold global flavours, or modern culinary innovations, GBC ensures that every meal is crafted with care and integrity."

What I can gather is that this Bilimoria chap partners with a restaurant, makes them cook his food, which is then advertised and delivered on a food app? I mean talk about sucking the life out of a business on every level if you were to go down this route as a restaurant.

Can anyone explain this any better?

From what I can gather it is not an app.

e.g when ordering from the Leicester General Bilimorias canteen, it gives the address as 173-175 Granby street, which is the Merchant of Venice, an Italian restaurant, which is an Italian inspired restaurant and the GBC menu is completely different in style (Indian food).

Oh and it is expensive, really expensive, given Leicesters abundance of decent Indian restaurants.

£20 for a Biryani
£20 for a main
£4 for a Paratha (my place charges £1)

Weird then.

I imagine it's marketing. Basically the restaurants lose nothing by supplying. But just seems odd really.
